The Calera High PTO will hold its fifth annual Calera Eagle 5K/10K Fun Run on Oct. 27. The race starts at 8 a.m. at Calera High School, follows a course through downtown Calera and returns up Calera Eagle Drive for the finish.

Principal Richard Bishop said funds raised will be used for classroom materials and scholarships. “Last year we used the funds from this event to pay for three scholarships and support instruction in the classroom. This year our goal is to continue to provide needed classroom supplies to our teachers and students, as well as scholarships,” he said.

The PTO has set a goal of $20,000. Businesses that partner with the school in this endeavor receive increased business flow and year-round advertising, build positive relations with the schools and community and help promote a healthy lifestyle.

Awards sponsor- restaurants donating certificates awarded to division winners will be recognized at the awards ceremony. Sponsorship level is based on dollar value of certificates donated.

Sponsors receive courtesy participant entries and the option to place advertisements in the goodie bags. Bishop said the school is open to other sponsorships “to make it possible for all businesses to be part of this exciting event.”
