AUGUSTA, Ga. – University of Montevallo junior Taylor Kerr was named the Peach Belt Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for the first time in her career Oct. 15.
Kerr, who took over as the Falcons’ starting goalkeeper midway through the season following an injury to junior Kaitlin Thomas, earned the honor after helping Montevallo earn back-to-back conference victories, which included her second shutout of the season.
Kerr began the week with her second-consecutive shutout in the Falcons’ 7-0 win over visiting Georgia Southwestern State University in a Peach Belt Conference match Oct. 10. Kerr posted four saves in the shutout.
Kerr added another three saves in Montevallo’s 2-1 win on the road at USC Aiken in a Peach Belt Conference match Oct. 13. The Pacers’ goal in the match snapped Kerr’s career-high streak of 253 consecutive minutes played without allowing a goal.
Kerr finished the week with seven saves, a .50 goals against average and a .875 save percentage. Kerr has racked up 20 saves in the past four matches since taking over as the Falcons’ starting goalkeeper.
Kerr and her teammates return to action Oct. 20 with a Peach Belt Conference match against Georgia College at 1 p.m. at Varsity Field.
