Montevallo men’s cross country finishes eighth in conference race

MONTEVALLO – The University of Montevallo men’s cross country team finished eighth in team standings at the 2012 Peach Belt Conference Championship 8K race Oct. 20 on its home course.
Columbus State University won the Peach Belt Conference team championship. Pardon Ndhlovu claimed the individual title with a time of 24:20.39.
Freshman Chris Pirrello led the Falcons with a time of 27:27.45, which placed him 27th overall in individual standings.
Junior David Smith came in 34th overall with his time of 27:58.46. Sophomore Zackery Walsh finished 41st overall with his time of 28:18.91.
Freshman Jordan Poche posted a time of 28:42.23, which placed him 46th overall in individual standings. Freshman Connor Marullo came in 52nd overall with his time of 28:57.02. Freshman Mason Webber finished 55th overall with a time of 29:08.42.
Sophomore Nick Fasanello finished with a time of 29:59.55, which placed him 68th overall in individual standings. Sophomore Philip Dublin came in 70th overall with a time of 30:01.90.
Junior Jake Davidson, who was named to the conference’s All-Sportsmanship team following the championship race, finished 71st overall with a time of 30:10.96. Sophomore Mark McDonald rounded out the group of Montevallo runners with his time of 30:53.80, which placed him 79th overall in individual standings.
The Falcons will compete in the NCAA Division II Southeast Region race Nov. 3 in Charlotte, N.C.
