RIVERCHASE — A Riverchase church is offering a chance for locals to stock up on holiday gifts before the season gets into full swing.

Riverchase Community Church is hosting a holiday market Nov. 17 to raise money for the church’s learning center. The event will be from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the church, located at 2053 Old Montgomery Highway in Riverchase.

Event organizer Roxanne Wilke said the event is free for attendees as the church is raising money through vendor fees.

The event will feature various types of vendors, including jewelry, clothing, children’s hair bows, artwork, Mary Kay cosmetics and Scentsy candles.

Wilke said this is the second year the church is hosting the market. Last year, while the market was successful, a local Christmas parade held the same day kept some potential attendees away.

“This year, because we’re having it on November 17, we’re not competing with anybody’s Christmas parade, and we’re not competing with any major football games, so hopefully we’ll have a really good turnout this year,” Wilke said.

Wilke said she hopes to see at least 100-150 attend the market this year.

“The more people we get, the more vendors we get every year, and the more money we raise,” she said.

Last year, the market raised $2,000 for the learning center. This year, event officials are hoping to raise $2,500-$3,000, Wilke said.
