Beverly earns program’s first PBC Player of the Week award

AUGUSTA, Ga. – University of Montevallo sophomore Taylor Beverly was named the Peach Belt Conference women’s basketball Player of the Week for the first time in her career Nov. 19 after becoming the Falcons’ first ever player to earn the weekly award since joining the conference in 2009.
Beverly averaged a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds per game for the Falcons in two games last week.
Beverly exploded for 22 points and a career-high 14 rebounds in a 72-69 win in overtime Nov. 17 on the road at the University of North Alabama in a non-conference game.
The 5-foot-10 forward from Brandon, Miss. scored 18 points in a 90-74 loss against UAH in a non-conference game Nov. 13. Beverly also finished with six boards, two assists and three steals in the setback.
Beverly shot 57.6% from the field (19-33) and added 1.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game last week.
The sophomore now ranks No. 12 among scoring leaders in the Peach Belt Conference with a scoring average of 14.8 points per game. Beverly is also among the conference rebounding leaders with an average of 7.5 boards per game.
Beverly and her teammates will return to action Nov. 20 with a non-conference game on the road at the University of West Georgia. Tip off is set for 6 p.m. Central Standard Time.
