FROM STAFF REPORTS

MT LAUREL – As part of the Dunnavant Valley Small Area Plan development process, Shelby County Development Services staff will be conducting a third community workshop from 6-8 p.m. at the Mt Laurel Elementary School cafeteria Nov. 27.

This community workshop is a repeat of the second community workshop held on Nov. 1, which had 44 participants. Residents unable to attend the Nov. 1 community workshop requested having an additional workshop. No changes have been made to the presentation. Results from the third community workshop will be added to the results from the second community workshop.

Residents and stakeholders of the Dunnavant Valley are invited to participate in a hands-on exercise using an audience response system whereby participants will be able to rank or prioritize implementation strategies of goals and objectives developed by the steering committee over the course of two meetings. The implementation strategies address issues that arose from the first Dunnavant Valley Community Workshop held on Sept. 13.

Following this additional community workshop, Development Services staff will compose a draft Dunnavant Valley Small Area Plan, which will be submitted to the steering committee who will review the draft plan and provide comments. Development Services staff will then make a presentation to the Dunnavant Valley community and solicit feedback. A final presentation of the draft plan will be made to the Shelby County Planning Commission, which is the final authority on the adoption of the plan. The Dunnavant Valley Small Area Plan is expected to be completed during the spring of 2013.
