Coosa Valley splits on final day of SMCA tourney

The Coosa Valley girls basketball team split their final two games of the South Montgomery County Academy tournament Nov. 20.

Coosa Valley (2-1) began the night with a 45-25 victory over South Montgomery County Academy. The Rebels outscored SMCA 22-7 in the second and third quarters to pull away for the win.

Danielle Richardson led Coosa Valley with 30 points while Kaylan Rich finished with four points and eight rebounds.

Coosa Valley concluded play in the tournament with a 58-44 loss to Chambers Academy. Chambers pulled away with a 18-point third quarter to hand Coosa Valley its first loss of the season.

Richardson led the Rebels with 17 points while Rich scored 12 points. Rich also added eight rebounds.

Coosa Valley returns to action on Nov. 27 at Edgewood.
