Lura L. Curtis, age 98, of Shelby, passed away on Nov. 23, 2012, at her home. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Nov. 26 at Bay Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Howard Brasher and Rev. David Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Bay Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Nov. 26 from noon-2 p.m. prior to the service.

Mrs. Curtis is preceded in death by her parents, Joe Thomas and Mary Louisa Etress White; husband, Ernest Curtis; and 10 siblings.

Mrs. Curtis was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a longtime faithful member of Bay Springs Baptist Church, where she was treasurer for over 60 years and served in many other capacities in her church.

She is survived by her children, Margaret Lou Jones (Hube), Lorene Boaz (John) and Eugene Curtis (Sue); four grandchildren, Cindy Reed (David), Tracy Pritchett (Bart), Greg Curtis and Amy House; and great-grandchildren, Emily Reed, Payton Pritchett, Hannah Curtis, Cole Curtis, Tristan House and Morgan Bearden; brothers, Reed and Joseph White; sister, Clemmie Lee Davis; and other family and friends.
