TUSCALOOSA —The Alabama hockey team makes its way back home this weekend as they take on the Georgia Ice Dogs this Saturday at 7:30 pm.  The Frozen Tide will play at the Pelham Civic Complex located at 500 Amphitheater Road, Pelham, Ala 35124.

Last weekend the Tide came out strong Friday night as they coasted by Mississippi State 14-0.  Saturday the Tide lost a tough game to Ole Miss 4-1, and Sunday the Tide was defeated by Arkansas 5-1.

“It’s been up and down this season so far,” senior captain Brandon Butler said.  “We are hoping to end the semester on a positive note, so we can build on it in January as we prepare for another championship run.”

At this Saturday’s game the mayor of the Pelham, Gary Waters, will perform the ceremonial puck drop.  The Alabama Hockey team is scheduling other local celebrities to drop the puck including Patrick Murphy, head coach of the defending National Championship softball team for Alabama.

Next Monday night, Dec. 10, the hockey team will host a “Learn to Skate” session at 8 p.m.  at the holiday ice skating rink located at 1901 Jack Warner Parkway, Tuscaloosa, Ala. 35401.  The temporary ice skating rink is part of the City of Tuscaloosa’s “Holidays on the River.”  Tickets can be purchased for $10 at the Mildred Westervelt Warner Transportation Museum located next to the rink.
