Alabama 25 closed after accident

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office has closed Alabama 25 after a pedestrian was struck by a car.

The sheriff’s office received a call about the accident, which occurred in the Summerhill community, at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Alabama 25 is closed in both directions between Shelby County 97 and the Columbiana city limits while deputies investigate.

The roadway will be closed “for some time,” according to a press release, and all traffic is being rerouted.

Local motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes.

The sheriff’s office did not release information about the status of the pedestrian who was struck.
