Homegoing celebration for Mr. Theolphus Perkins, age 69, will be Jan. 6, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Vincent High School Gymnasium with burial in Harpersville Garden of Memories. He was the owner of Perk’s Bar-B-Que, Harpersville, and retired from Kimberly Clark/Abiti Bowater Paper Company.

Mr. Perkins passed away Jan. 1, 2013, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center, Alabaster. He is preceded in death by daughter, Loretta Yvette Perkins. He is survived by wife, Frances Perkins; son, pastor, Mayor Theoangelo Perkins (Brittany) of Harpersville; mother, Gladys M. Perkins of Shelby; four brothers, Walter Perkins, Linwood Perkins (Janice), Virgil Perkins (Cecilia) of Shelby and John Perkins III (Johnetta) of Calera; seven sisters, Earnestine Cribbs (Walter) of Calera, Minister Jerrie M. Perkins of Winston Salem, N.C., Minister Evelyn Perkins of Bronx, N.Y.; Shirley Bennett (Ray), Minister Barbara Everett (Wesley) of Charlotte, N.C., Margie Perkins and Maxine Perkins of Shelby; two grandchildren, MaKayla and Kinsley Perkins of Harpersville; two aunts, Cora Bolden and Pauline McGinnis; uncle, Clarence McGinnis; four sisters-in-law, Cathryn Smith (Henry) of Childersburg, Sherry McGinnis of Harpersville, Maggie Perkins and Pearl McGinnis; five brothers-in-law, Solon McGinnis Jr. of Birmingham, Billie McGinnis (Lois) of Huntsville, Stevie McGinnis (Robin), Anthony McGinnis of Harpersville and Otis McCrimon of Vincent; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and close friends.

Visitation was Jan. 5, 2013, from 1-7 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 33558 U.S. 280, Childersburg, Alabama 35044; 256-378-7199. Sunset Memorial Chapel-Childersburg directed the service.
