UPDATED: Alabama 70 reopened after wreck with injuries

COLUMBIANA – Alabama 70 has been reopened in both directions after a motor vehicle accident with injuries occured about 6 a.m., according to a release from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s deputies, along with Alabama State Troopers, responded to the wreck on Alabama 70 and Dusty Hollow Road and closed down the highway in both direction so that aid could be rendered to those involved.

The injured were treated at the scene and transported to local hospitals, the release stated.

Motorist are urged to be cautious throughout today during this period of inclement weather. If anyone traveling the roadways of Shelby County notices any heavy water or icing on the roads, please call the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office at 669-4181.
