A Montevallo man was killed and another person was injured in a two-car wreck on Shelby County 17 between Montevallo and Maylene, according to the Alabama Highway Patrol.

The wreck happened at about 2:40 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19. According to the Highway Patrol, the vehicles involved were a 1999 Chevrolet and a 2013 Chevrolet.

Montevallo resident Richard Eugene Allen, 55, was driving the 1999 Chevrolet, and was killed in the wreck. Deanna White, a passenger in the 1999 Chevrolet, was injured and transported to UAB Hospital.

The driver of the 2013 Chevrolet, Edward Poole, was not injured in the wreck.
