Man charged in fatal Saginaw wreck

An Alabaster man involved in a fatal Jan. 16 wreck in Saginaw has been charged with reckless murder involving a vehicle and first-degree assault, according to Shelby County Jail records.

Drew Alexander Graham, 21, was booked into the jail on Jan. 30, and currently is being held on bonds totaling $100,000.

Graham was involved in the Jan. 16 wreck on Shelby County 26, which happened at about 11:20 a.m. just south of the Saginaw Volunteer Fire Department, according to the Birmingham Highway Patrol office.

According to the Highway Patrol wreck report, Graham’s 1996 Ford Explorer collided with a 2004 Ford Escape driven by 39-year-old Columbiana resident Karen Lewis. Lewis was killed in the wreck and her passenger, a juvenile whose name was not released, was transported to UAB Hospital for treatment.

Graham was injured in the wreck and was transported to UAB Hospital for treatment.
