Briarwood rallies late for win over Spain Park

The Briarwood Christian Lions overcame an early three-run deficit to take a 12-5 victory over the Spain Park Jaguars March 5.
The Jaguars (7-4) took a 4-1 lead after two innings of play before Will Dyson drove home two runs in the third to cut the Spain Park advantage to one, 4-3, after three innings of play.
Spain Park held a 5-4 lead headed into the bottom of the fifth when Briarwood rallied. The Lions scored a run off a Jaguar error to tie the game and Sam Morris drove home Cleveland Milstead to give Briarwood a 6-5 edge. Briarwood added two more runs in the fifth, and then erupted for five runs in the sixth to take the 12-5 win.
Daniel Robert and Dyson each went 1-for-2 with two RBIs to lead the Lions’ offense. Morris finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Josh Close led Spain Park batting 2-for-3 with a double and a RBI. Tyler Wise added a double and a RBI.
Blythe Woods pitched the Lions to the win with an inning of relief with a strikeout.
Tristan Lamb took the loss for Spain Park while allowing two runs on no hits in a third of an inning of work.
