Thompson High School’s Jake Walters had a dominating performance on the mound to lead the Warriors’ to a 6-0 victory over Wetumpka to open Class 6A, Area 7 play March 12.

Walters threw a complete game with 15 strikeouts while allowing no runs on five hits.

The Warriors (16-4) scored a pair of runs in the first, second and fourth innings to take the win.

Blake Grill led Thompson at the plate batting 1-for-1 with two RBIs and a walk. Mel Harwell added a 2-for-4 performance with two RBIs while Houston Davenport went 1-for-4 with two RBIs.
