James O. (Jimmy) Waldrop, age 78, of Harpersville, died at his residence on March 17, 2013.

Visitation will be held on March 19 at Providence Baptist Church in Harpersville from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be on March 20 at Providence Baptist at 2 p.m. with burial in Harpersville Cemetery. Reverends William Rayfield, David Williams and Zane Smith will be officiating.

Mr. Waldrop is a veteran of the U.S. Navy in the Seabee Division. He was a retired minister and member of Providence Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by parents, Clarence and Lillian Waldrop; and brother, Richard Waldrop. Survivors include his wife, Jewell Abbott Waldrop of Harpersville; son, Randy Waldrop (Tammy) of Harpersville; daughter, Sharon Hardwick of Harpersville and Jeanie Waldrop (Jamie Walker) of Gulf Shores; brothers, Vernon and T. J. Waldrop of Wilsonville; sister, Janet Smith of Birmingham; and grandchildren, Rebekah Waldrop, Candice and Brandy Hardwick, and Brittany and Brandon Payne.
