Thompson wins Birmingham/Huntsville Challenge

The Thompson Warriors shutout the Oak Mountain Eagles in the postponed championship game of the Birmingham/Huntsville Challenge March 27.

The championship game of the tournament that began the season for the Warriors was rained out and played as the first game of a doubleheader against the Eagles.

Jake Walters held Oak Mountain to two his in seven scoreless innings with 14 strikeouts and a walk. Justin Hoyt took the loss for the Eagles allowing five runs on seven hits.

Blake Grill led Thompson with a 2-for-2 effort from the plate while Houston Davenport went 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Joseph Simonetti was 1-for-3 with a double and a RBI.

Heath Quinn and Connor O’Brien each had hit to lead Oak Mountain.
