Falcons defeat Fort Valley State in non-conference match

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The University of Montevallo women’s tennis team defeated Fort Valley State 5-0 in a non-conference match March 28.
The match ended early after the Falcons (8-8) secured the victory by sweeping all three doubles’ matches and taking the first two singles’ matches completed.
Sophomore Niki Polcerova, the reigning Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week who is ranked No. 11 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s NCAA Division II Southeast Region rankings, defeated Gabriella Louis of Fort Valley State 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles’ match.
Sophomore Anais Robert defeated Ashley Stallings of Fort Valley State 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 3 singles’ match.
Polcerova and Robert teamed up to defeat Louis and Stallings 8-3 in the No. 1 doubles’ match.
Junior Haley Highfield and freshman Allison Howell defeated Yonelle Aromin and Latesha Taylor of Fort Valley State 8-3 in the No. 2 doubles’ match. Senior Lauren Blair and freshman Juanita Ossa defeated Tanisha Sands and Mennick 8-3 in the No. 3 doubles’ match.
The Falcons return to action Friday, March 29 with a Peach Belt Conference match on the road at Clayton State University. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. CST.
