Chelsea explodes for win over Oak Mountain

The Chelsea Hornets exploded for seven runs in the fifth inning to take a 10-3 area victory over the Oak Mountain Eagles April 2.

Chelsea trailed 3-1 headed into the fifth, and then scored nine unanswered runs for the win.

Tripp Hobbs picked up the win in a complete game effort giving up three runs on six hits with three walks and five strikeouts.

Hobbs led Chelsea batting 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Davis Shoemaker went 1-for-3 with a home run. Hunter Howard was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Casey Ballenger went 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Keelan Gregg added a 1-for-4 performance with two RBIs.

Justin Hoyt took the loss for the Eagles while allowing eight runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and a walk. Pierce Clarke led Oak Mountain batting 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Hoyt finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
