The Briarwood Christian girls’ tennis team swept all nine of the final matches to win the Class 5A, Section 3 championship April 18.

Briarwood finished with a total of 63 points in the team standings while Homewood finished second with 42 points.

Ashley Ochsenhirt led Briarwood with her No. 1 singles victory over Homewood’s Mariel McConville in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3. Ochsenhirt and Jud Tarence won the No. 1 doubles championship with a 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 victory over McDonville and Maggie Williams of Homewood.
