COLUMBIANA – The 2013 Walmart Bass Fishing League will be holding its third tournament of the season on Lay Lake May 4.

Lay Lake is the third tournament in the Bama division and officials expect up to 400 boaters and co-anglers competing for awards up from $8,000 to $3000.

“Known for its largemouth and Coosa River spotted bass, Lay Lake contains large numbers of both,” stated the press release. “Spawning bass can be found along main-lake flats, flats in creeks and especially pockets and small cuts off the main lake.”

The release stated that the winning weight at Lay Lake is expected to be near 20 pounds.

The Walmart BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers with 120 tournaments throughout the season. The top 40 boaters in each of the 24 divisions qualify for the regional tournament to determine the top six who will compete in the Walmart BFL All-American June 27-29 on Nickajack Lake in Chattanooga, Tenn.
