Pelham wins Kelsey Goodwin Memorial

The Pelham High School boys’ golf team won the Kelsey Goodwin Memorial golf tournament held at Cider Ridge Golf Club April 23.

The Panthers took first in the tournament in a playoff after tying Hewitt-Trussville through two rounds of play. Pelham finished with a two-round score of 666 (334-334). Conner Slane gave the Panthers the team tournament title with a birdie on the first playoff hole.

Slane won the individual championship with a total score of 146 (73-73). Spencer Hollon scored a 168 (82-86), Nils Abel had a 174 (88-86), Aaron Borgosz scored a 180 (91-89) and Clint Wallace scored a 185 (94-91).

The tournament honors Kelsey Goodwin who was killed in an automobile accident in 2009 and provides a $1000 scholarship to a senior golfer competing in the tournament. Slane won the scholarship after following the application process and writing an essay.

Winning the Kelsey Goodwin Memorial marks Slane’s third victory of the season.
