Fences on Parade shared the stage last week with some of the world’s best golfers at a world-class golf course during the Regions Tradition.

The Shelby County Arts Council organized the Fences On Parade outdoor art exhibit, now in its third year.

This year’s exhibit featured regional artists creating beautiful works of art from 4-by-5-foot outdoor fence sections. The fences are coated to withstand the weather and designed for permanent outdoor display.

The Regions event team was excited to bring the Fences to Shoal Creek for exhibit during the tournament.

Tracy McKay, Scott Vann Owen, Edna Sealy, Trina Stogner and Jerry Roldan are the featured artists who donated their time and talent for this project. Sealy, who teaches a therapeutic arts class for special needs children, partnered with two of her students to paint Fences. Brown Lumber in Columbiana generously donated the fences to the arts council. This year’s paintings can be purchased online at Shelbycountyartscoun cil.com. All proceeds will fund Shelby County Arts Council’s youth outreach programs.

The 2013 Fences On Parade exhibit will be on display at Jeff State Community College Shelby campus for the summer. Fences are located in the lobby of the Health Science building on Valleydale Road. Select Fences from the 2012 exhibit are on permanent display at Oak Mountain State Park. It is not too late to participate in Fences On Parade. Youth attending the arts council summer camps will be painting Fences for permanent display at parks in Shelby County.
