Alabaster softball All-Stars win tourney

The 6U Alabaster Girls All Star softball team became the Alabama USSSA 1st Central Pre-Area Champion, winning the Central Alabama Pre-Area all-star tournament in Hoover June 6-8.  The team went undefeated in play.

The 6U Alabaster Girls All Star softball team became the Alabama USSSA 1st Central Pre-Area Champion, winning the Central Alabama Pre-Area all-star tournament in Hoover June 6-8.  The team went undefeated in play.

The team opened with a win over Vestavia Hills, 15-4. Their doubleheader the following night was rained out, but was played early on Saturday. In the doubleheader, they defeated Leeds, 23-8, then McCalla, 16-13.

Just a few hours later, Alabaster played Springville, winning 11-7. The win secured a spot in the semifinals against Hoover, which they took, 25-17. The victory sent them to the championship round against Hewitt-Trussville. After going down 6-1 in the first inning, Alabaster came back to defeat Hewitt-Trussville 20-15, taking the Championship.

The win in the championship round secured Alabaster a spot in the Area Tournament, held in Leeds.

The team consists of Dailynn Motes, Adyson Keough, Nora Ellis, Olivia Tindell, Mallory Flournoy, Hannah Hobbs, Amelia Hall, Rylan Pickett, Ella Matthews, Ella Southern, Abby Mohon and Macy Mitchell.

The coaching staff consists of Rick Ellis, Ethan Southern, Catherine Mohon, Steve Hall and Drew Pickett.
