Hospital another red light for commuters

Dear Editor,

Trinity Medical Center got the green light. Good for them. Although Shelby County will benefit from a more convenient hospital, the residents that commute on U.S. 280 every day just got another red light — one that holds a long, long time.

I moved to Chelsea 17 years ago. It used to take 10-15 minutes to get to work. Now it takes 25-40 minutes on a good day. I wonder how long it will take when thousands of employees are going to Trinity, along with the patient traffic.

I’ve been hearing talk about relieving the congestion on U.S. 280 since the day I moved to Shelby County. The intersection improvements under way will hardly make a difference when this hospital opens.

Will anything be done for the poor U.S. 280 commuters before this hospital opens? Ha! I believe it’s time for me to move.
