Former Briarwood Christian and current Mississippi State University pitcher Ben Bracewell made an appearance in Game 2 of the NCAA Division I College World Series Finals.
Bracewell, the 2008 and 2009 Shelby County Reporter All-County Baseball Player of the Year, came in relief of Ross Mitchell in the fourth inning against UCLA after Mitchell hit the leadoff batter.
He faced three batters, inducing a groundout before giving up an RBI single and a double. He was relieved by Jonathan Holder.
The Bulldogs fell to the Bruins, 8-0, for their second straight loss in the series, clinching the championship for UCLA.
