A Pelham man is being held in the Shelby County Jail on a $15,000 bond after police said he allegedly brandished an airsoft gun during a robbery in Alabaster.
Kendarius Michael Finch, 18, was arrested by the Alabaster Police Department on June 29 and charged with one felony count of first-degree robbery.
According to Alabaster police incident reports, the robbery happened at about 10:50 p.m. on June 29 at a residence in the 100 block of Allen Drive.
Alabaster Police Chief Curtis Rigney said the department received a call reporting the robbery before issuing a suspect and vehicle description to officers. The victim reported being robbed at gunpoint, Rigney said.
A few minutes later, Alabaster police stopped a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s near the intersection of U.S. 31 and Alabama 119. Officers discovered the items reported stolen and an airsoft gun in the suspect’s vehicle and placed him under arrest, Rigney said.
An airsoft gun is a device firing small plastic pellets.
According to police reports, a Nike shoe valued at $30, an Alabama baseball cap valued at $20 and a skateboard valued at $100 were stolen in the incident. All items reported stolen were returned to the victim.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
First-degree robbery is a Class A felony. If convicted of the crime, Finch could face between 10 years to life in prison, according to the Code of Alabama.
