Pelham’s Heart of Dixie Harley-Davidson will offer a motorcycle lover’s dream next month while helping to combat a widespread and dangerous disease.

The Dixie Divas Riding Club will host its fifth-annual “Revvin’ 4 Research” charity motorcycle ride on Saturday, Sept. 7 at the motorcycle dealership off Alabama 119 in Pelham.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama.

Over the past four years, the event, with the support of the dealership, volunteers and sponsors, has raised nearly $70,000 to help with breast cancer research.

The event began in 2009 when the Dixie Divas reached out to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation to host a “Ride for Research.” The 2009 ride brought 148 bikes, and the event has more than doubled in size since then.

Last year’s event featured more than 400 motorcycles.

This year, riders can enjoy breakfast at Heart of Dixie Harley-Davidson during registration, which will begin at 9 a.m. the day of the event. The ride will begin at 11 a.m., and will be police-escorted the entire length.

The ride will end back at the dealership, where riders can enjoy an after party featuring live music by Rory and the Riff Raffs, catered lunch from Habaneros, beverages from Coca Cola and live and silent auctions. Prizes also will be given away all afternoon to registered riders.
