CHELSEA – Joseph Christopher Honea, 17, was killed in a single car accident Sept. 8 just after midnight.

Capt. Ken Burchfield of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Honea was a student at Briarwood Christian School and said investigators are still determining the cause of the accident, which occurred on Shelby County 39 in Chelsea.

Burchfield said it will be a few days before the report is made available, but a group of traffic accident investigators is working on the case.

There were no other cars involved and no other passengers in the vehicle.
