The accident occurred at about 12:15 p.m. Sept. 9 at the intersection of Cahaba Park Circle.
The victims’ names have not yet been released. The two were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Birmingham Police Department.
“It is expected that most or all of the lanes will be closed for an extended amount of time,” according to a Shelby County Sheriff’s Office press release.
