The Oak Mountain Fall State Fair will transform the parking lot of the Oak Mountain Amphitheatre into a carnival-like atmosphere beginning on Sept. 26.

The fall fair has been held at the Amphitheatre for the past several years, and will return this fall with more attractions than ever. Dates for this year’s fair are from Thursday, Sept. 26-Saturday, Oct. 5.

Gates will open at 5 p.m. on Sept. 26-27, 1 p.m. on Sept. 28-29, 1 p.m. on Sept. 30-Oct. 4 and at 1 p.m. on Oct. 5.

Special events planned for this year’s fair include two-wheel action shows, pig racing, a human cannonball show, a circus, wrestling and magicians, according to event organizers.

Rides such as the 100-foot-tall Vertigo swing, the spinning Fireball and the large Century Wheel Ferris wheel.

The fair also will feature several nights of live music, food vendors and a wide range of games.

Tickets are available at Oakmountainstatefair.com, and discount tickets are available at many area Walgreens stores.

Over the past few months, the city of Pelham and the Oak Mountain Amphitheatre have teamed up to make improvements to the area surrounding the venue, which makes it easier for the Amphitheatre to host events such as the fair, said Pelham Mayor Gary Waters.

Crews recently replaced the footbridge leading over Buck Creek connecting the Amphitheatre parking lot to the restaurants and hotels on Alabama 119, and crews currently are working to extend a city water line to serve special events at the venue.
