Calera man indicted on first-degree rape

CALERA – A Calera man who was arrested and charged with first-degree rape in April was indicted on the same charge Sept. 18, according to court documents.

Harry Vester Jones, 49, of Calera was arrested April 17 after the Calera Police Department received a report of rape April 9. Jones was released on a $60,000 bond April 18, according to court documents. Investigators said previously that the alleged victim is 39 years old and is not a Calera resident.

Jones is set for an arraignment hearing with Judge Dan Reeves Nov. 4 at 8:30 a.m. at the Shelby County Courthouse.
