COLUMBIANA – “Electricity” is the reason Benard Tamburello, owner of Bernie’s on Main, wanted to bring a fall music series to Columbiana.

The only difference between Columbiana and music capitals like New Orleans and Franklin, Tenn., according to Tamburello, is the electricity.

“There was electricity downtown,” said Tamburello of the annual summer concert series Music on Main Street, which has served as inspiration for the fall series. “People were dancing in the streets.”

The new fall series, Music After Dark, starts Oct. 18 and will happen every Friday night from 6-9 p.m. until Nov. 22 in front of Bernie’s on Main.

Bands scheduled to perform include a swing band, a 50s cover band, a blues band, a classic rock-and-roll cover band, a New Orleans-style jazz band and a band that covers everything from 40s and 50s music to hits from the 70s and 80s, said Bernie’s general manager Brianna Panos.

“We tried to do a little bit of everything to appeal to several crowds,” Panos said.

The event is free to attend, though Bernie’s will sell to-go boxed dinner specials, hot chocolate and apple cider for people who want inexpensive dinners while they listen to the show.

Bernie’s will also provide an expanded dining section outside the restaurant for those wanting a full-fledged dinner and drinks.
