Wayne “Doughboy” Pickett, age 62, of Montevallo (Pea Ridge) passed away at his home, Nov. 26, 2013.

Wayne was active with the Montevallo Youth Athletic Association where he enjoyed coaching his grandson. All his grandchildren brought him great joy. He also enjoyed Alabama football. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where he had served as song director.

He is survived by his wife of 41 and one half years, Joan Dailey Pickett; his daughter, Tracy Lamb (David); his sons, Derrick Pickett (Deonna) and Shane Pickett (Sheena); and his sister, Shiela Allen (Jack). He is also survived by four grandchildren, Justin, Kayla Ruth, Candice and Suzy, all of Montevallo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Lou Pickett.

Mr. Pickett’s visitation will be on Nov. 29 from 6-8 p.m. at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel. His service will be at 11 a.m. on Nov. 30 also at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery in Montevallo (Pea Ridge). Services will be officiated by Rev. Wayne Cleckler and Rev. Mike Allen.
