Rita Ann (Jones) Porter, age 62, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, in Birmingham. Rita was born in Sayre; over her years she attended Pelham First Assembly of God, and was active in children ministry and teaching. She also attended Southeastern Bible College and worked as an activity director for the last ten years at Kirkwood by the River.

She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. William A. Jones, and brother, Bill Jones Jr. Her surviving relatives include her mother, Mildred Jones; son, Chris Porter (Donna); two sisters, Tina Rogers and Gayla Davis (Donny); also one grandchild, Madison Childress.

Rita’s funeral service was held on Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. in Rockco Funeral Home Chapel with her visitation 30 minutes prior to the service. Rev. Faye Jefferson and Rev. Ed Wilson officiated her services.
