The Pelham Board of Education will begin meeting on the second and fourth Mondays of each month in an effort to allow more parents to attend the meetings, School Board members said during a Jan. 14 meeting.

School Board members voted unanimously to change the board’s meeting schedule from the second Tuesday morning and fourth Thursday evening to the second and fourth Monday nights of each month.

The meeting on the second Monday will begin at 4 p.m., while the meeting on the fourth Monday will begin at 7 p.m.

Before the Jan. 14 meeting, School Board President Rick Rhoades said the board set its original meeting schedule to accommodate BOE member Brian Long’s work schedule.

Since the School Board set its original meeting schedule, Long’s work schedule has changed, allowing the Board of Education to set a more regular meeting schedule, Rhoades said.

Rhoades said the 7 p.m. meeting will allow working parents and Pelham residents to have “easier access to the meetings we are having.”

The new meeting schedule went into effect immediately, meaning the School Board’s next meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 27 at Pelham City Hall
