Wrecker companies will begin towing vehicles abandoned on Pelham streets at noon on Jan. 30 in an effort to clear the city’s roads for safe travel, according to Pelham Mayor Gary Waters.

On Jan. 30, Waters said the city is working to open all of its major roads after a winter storm caused widespread icing issues beginning on Jan. 28.

“Pelham residents who found it necessary to abandon their vehicles will have until noon today to recover them,” Waters wrote. “Those not recovered by their owners will be towed.”

Waters said “there will be no price gouging in Pelham,” and said all towing companies will charge “pre-storm towing rates.”

“The towing companies have also agreed to waive their standard impound fee of $200,” Waters wrote.
