Shelby County Schools will dismiss at 2:30 p.m. and Alabaster Schools will dismiss at 2:15 p.m. today because of the threat of inclement winter weather.

The two school systems announced the closing as the National Weather Service forecast possible light snowfall across central Alabama.

All Shelby County Schools’ afterschool activities, including afterschool care, is canceled today.

Alabaster City Schools’ extended day care program will be open until 3:30 p.m.

All campuses of Jefferson State Community College were closed as of 2:30 p.m.
