COLUMBIANA — Gov. Robert Bentley has appointed attorney Corey B. Moore as Shelby County circuit judge. Moore’s appointment is effective immediately.

Shelby County Court Administrator Jennifer Nalu confirmed Moore’s appointment Feb. 25. Moore succeeds former Shelby County Circuit Judge Hub Harrington, who retired earlier this month after 12 years on the bench.

Moore was appointed among three candidates to fill the judge seat. A total of 15 attorneys were nominated to succeed Harrington in January.

The Shelby County Judicial Commission convened Feb. 10 to narrow the field down to three nominees — Moore, Aubrey “Jay” Holloway and Patrick E. Kennedy.

Moore will serve as circuit judge until the next general election.
