Visitation for John Steven Clinkscales, 60, was held on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at Miller Funeral home with graveside services following at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Justin Holland officiating. Mr. Clinkscales passed away Feb. 22, at his residence, surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Clinkscales, of Oxford; one daughter, Natalie Clinkscales Wilson and her husband, Tim, of Oxford.  Mr. Clinkscales also had two grandchildren, Ella and Stephen Wilson, who were his pride and joy.
He was the son of Ernest and Ruby Clinkscales and the son-in-law of Betty McCury and the late Ernest McCurry.  He had one brother, Gary Clinkscales, and his wife, Mary.  He also had two sisters, Joan Davis and her husband Larry, Jan Hawkins and her husband Greg.  He had a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Melvin McCurry and his wife Regina and Tricia Salter and her husband, Van.
Mr. Clinkscales was born in Birmingham on Oct. 4, 1953.   He graduated from Vincent High School in 1972 where he played basketball, baseball and football. He attended Jacksonville State University and played football for the JSU Gamecocks. He graduated from JSU in 1977 with a BS degree in Recreation and Administration with a minor in English.
Mr. Clinkscales began a 35 year long career at Nabisco in 1977 where he worked until his early retirement in 2012 when he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma.
Mr. Clinkscales was a Christian husband, father, Paw-Paw, son, brother, uncle and friend.  He was an avid fisherman and Auburn football fan.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Oxford.
Mr. Clinkscales passed away at his home after a two year long battle with multiple myeloma.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the University of Arkansas Hospital as well as Alacare Hospice for the excellent medical care he received.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Oxford or the International Myeloma Foundation in memory of Steve Clinkscales.
