MONTEVALLO—Montevallo Elementary encouraged creativity by celebrating the many works of Dr. Seuss during the first week of March.

The school announced themed days, such as crazy hat day, crazy hair day and crazy sock day. To cap it off, the students dressed as their favorite Dr. Seuss character at the end of the week.

The teachers participated in the theme as well, decorating their doors and classrooms in the zany style of Dr. Seuss. Christina Butera, a first-grade teacher, and Jametia Williams, a fourth grade teacher, were the winners of the door decorating contest.

In addition, the cafeteria was decorated with famous Dr. Seuss books, and the students voted on their favorite and then used the figures in their math lessons for the week.

“There were just a lot of fun things going on,” said Montevallo Elementary Registrar Debbie Sweat. “The kids had a really great time.”
