INDIAN SPRINGS VILLAGE — The first-ever Little Mr. and Miss Indian Springs Village Pageant, benefitting the Indian Springs Village Children’s Fund, is set for May 10 at 3 p.m. at Oak Mountain Intermediate School.

Indian Springs Village Town Clerk Joan Downs said the pageant is not a “Toddlers and Tiaras”-type event, but rather a family-friendly gathering with contestants dressed in their Sunday best.

“I hope we have a lot of contestants,” Downs said. “It will be an event everyone will enjoy and be proud of.”

Volunteer coordinators are now seeking contestants age 4-12. Entry forms are available online at IndianSpringsVillage.org. The entry fee is $20, and all checks should be made payable to the Indian Springs Village Children’s Fund, Downs said. The submission deadline is May 1, and entry forms and fees may be mailed or dropped off at Indian Springs Village Town Hall at 2635 Cahaba Valley Road.

The Children’s Fund supplies holiday gifts and clothing for less fortunate children in Oak Mountain schools. Since the early ’90s, Oak Mountain school counselors have provided the Children’s Fund with the names of children in need. Over the years, residents have provided gifts and clothing for hundreds of children throughout north Shelby County.

This past holiday season, the Children’s Fund aided about 20 students. Downs said by boosting fundraising efforts, Indian Springs Village hopes to double the number of students it serves this year.

General admission to the pageant is $5, Downs said. In addition, a percentage of professional photo/video package sales will go toward the Children’s Fund.
