HELENA—Helena Elementary is bringing the carnival to town for its annual Spring Fling fundraiser event April 4-6.
“It’s our biggest fundraiser every year,” said PTO member and event planner Amber Bordelon. “Its really just a lot of fun.”
Every year, with the help of a carnival company, the Helena Elementary PTO transforms the school, bringing in food trucks, games and rides such as rollercoasters, bumper cars and tilt-a-whirls.
Excitement for the event is already building among students, teachers and parents at Helena Elementary. The rides were delivered on March 30 and will be set up throughout the week.
“It’s creating a buzz among the kids,” Bordelon said. “They’re getting really excited.”
The carnival opens April 4 at 5:30 p.m. with rides, food and family activities. Helena Elementary classrooms will run additional small games on April 5.
“They’re little things appropriate for even preschoolers, like balloon bust, fishing games and putt-putt,” Bordelon said.
After a full weekend of activities, Spring Fling concludes on April 6 at 5 p.m. Proceeds from the weekend go toward purchasing new technology for Helena Elementary. This year the PTO’s goal is to outfit every classroom with a Smartboard.
