Vaccination is vital in protecting animals from diseases that are contagious from other animals. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported in 2009 data, 81 cases of rabies in Alabama alone. CDC also reported every year more than 55,000 people worldwide succumb to rabies with costs associated, in the United States, estimated to be at $300 million.

The Shelby Humane Society is aiding citizens in obtaining these vital vaccinations by offering a low-cost option for the core vaccinations. On the day of the event, the following will be available:

* Rabies Vaccine only – $10

* Feline Package (FVRCP booster and Rabies Vaccine)- $35

* Canine Package (DA2PPV, Kennel Cough Booster, and Rabies Vaccine)- $45

* FREE Microchips- A donation of any size helps the Shelby Humane Society continue to provide this service.

* FREE ID tags to all pets that visit the event.

Wilsonville residents can bring a water bill from the Town of Wilsonville and receive a $10 discount on each vaccine package (feline or canine packages).

SHS staff will also be on site from 9 a.m.-noon to counsel citizens regarding low-cost options of spray/neuter services.
