University of Montevallo volleyball signs three

University of Montevallo volleyball coach Katie O’Brien recently announced three new signees who join the Falcons in the fall.
Nicole Holton, a Tallahasee, Fla. native, Natalie Twyford, a Columbus, Ga. native, and Nicolette Fiessinger of Dayton, Ohio will join Taylor Gibson, Kristy Bohan and Grace Harris as newcomers this fall.
Holton will enroll at Montevallo as a junior in the fall after transferring from Gulf Coast State College in Panama City, Fla.
Holton, a 5-foot-6 outside hitter/defensive specialist, was named a second team National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American last season, the first All-American in the history of the Gulf Coast State program.
Holton was also named the Panhandle Conference Player of the Year and a first team All-Panhandle Conference selection following her sophomore season.
Holton played in 106 sets in 31 matches last season, registering 393 kills and 284 digs on the year. Holton averaged 3.71 kills per set and 2.68 digs per set a year ago while leading her team to a 21-10 record.
Holton was also named first team All-Panhandle Conference following her freshman season in 2012. Holton, who played in 98 sets in 21 matches, registered a team-high 230 kills and recorded 231 digs while leading the team to a 25-15 record.
Holton graduated from Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, Fla. in the spring of 2011. Holton was named a first team Tallahassee All-Big Bend selection following both her junior and senior seasons in high school and was a second team All-Big Bend selection after her sophomore season. Holton, who was a four-year member of her school’s Academic Honor Roll, was named her team’s Most Valuable Player following her senior season.
Holton, who is the daughter of Kelley and Debbie Holton, has one brother, Tyler. Holton plans to major in Kinesiology with a minor in Health Promotions at Montevallo.
Twyford will join the Falcons as a freshman in the fall after graduating from Columbus High School in Columbus, Ga. this spring.
Twyford, a 5-foot-10 setter/outside hitter, was named an All-State and All-Bi City selection after leading her team to a state championship last fall. Twyford was also a member of her high school’s Beta Club and Spanish Honor Society.
Twyford, who is the daughter of George and Annette Twyford, has one brother, Bradley. Twyford plans to major in Biology with a minor in Psychology at Montevallo.
Fiessinger will enroll as a freshman in the fall after graduating from Bishop Fenwick High School in Dayton, Ohio this spring.
Fiessinger, a 5-foot-7 libero/defensive specialist, was named first team All-District, second team All-League and was selected to an All-Star team following her senior season. Fiessinger, who was also earned her team’s Senior Award and defensive Most Valuable Player honors, was named an academic All-American by PrepVolleyball.com.
Fiessinger, who is the daughter of Tom and Becky Fiessinger, has one brother, Michael. Fiessinger plans to major in Biology at Montevallo.
