MONTEVALLO—The Montevallo Main Street Players have been a Montevallo staple for over four decades, after getting their start in 1974, Steve Gilbert, executive director of the Montevallo Chamber of Commerce said.

The group puts on three productions a year, and the first production of 2014 will be the musical comedy I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change.

“It kind of covers the gamut of all relationships from dating to marriage to children. It’s really a funny show,” Gilbert said.

The show is a musical comedy with book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts. It is the second-longest running Off-Broadway musical, and was nominated for the Outer Critics Circle Award as an Outstanding Off-Broadway musical in 1997.

“It’s kind of a lighthearted look at how we interact with our significant others,” Gilbert said.

The show will run from Thursday, May 8 through Sunday, May 11. Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at the door or by reservation at (205) 665-9207 ext. 6. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for students.
