Vincent to host third annual clean up day
By GINNY COOPER/Staff Writer
VINCENT—The town of Vincent will have three dumpsters set up in the city park on May 16, 17 and 18 as an annual service to the community.
“We just basically try to give people an opportunity free of charge to not have to go to the dump, plus it cleans up the town,” Mayor Ray McAllister said.
The annual event has been “really, really popular” in the past, with two full 20-yard dumpsters packed and dumped two or three times at the last clean up day, McAllister approximated.
Many household items including old tires, appliances and other rubbish can be deposited in the dumpsters. However, paint and other hazardous waste is not permitted.
“It’s been really sizeable,” McAllister said of the clean up day. “It’s just been very well received.”
