Candidates in several local races will participate in a series of candidates’ forums this week.

The Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce, Shelby County Reporter and Shelby County Republican Party are co-hosting the forums ahead of the June 3 primary elections.

• The State Senate District 11 forum will be Tuesday, May 20 from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Shelby County High School auditorium. The South Shelby Chamber of Commerce is also co-hosting this forum. Free admission.

• The Shelby County Sheriff’s forum will be held during the GSCCC’s May Membership Luncheon on Wednesday, May 21 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Pelham Civic Complex and Ice Arena. Cost is $20 per Chamber member and $30 per non-member.

• The State House District 43 forum will be Thursday, May 22 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Candidates for each position have been invited to attend their respective forums and answer questions designed to inform voters of their positions on important matters. Candidates will not be informed of the questions prior to the event, and they will be asked questions in a rotating order. They will also be given the opportunity for closing remarks at the conclusion of the forum.
