PELHAM—Drivers who use Highway 52 West in Pelham should plan to “seek an alternate route” from May 27 through May 29 as CSX will shut down the road to complete line repairs, Pelham Police Deputy Chief Larry Palmer said.

CSX will carry out an “extensive project” to “remove all of the track and all of the cross-ties,” as well as “the crossing and foundation beds,” Palmer said. The construction will close down Highway 52 West for the duration of the project.

“Once it goes down Tuesday morning, it will stay closed until Thursday afternoon,” Palmer said.

The project was originally scheduled for May 21 and May 22, however on May 20, CSX cancelled the planned closing and rescheduled it for May 27 through May 29.

Palmer said the dates are “tentative” and “subject to change,” but added CSX is “working hard to make these dates a reality.”

Information about the planned closing will be updated as it is made available. More information can also be found on the Pelham website, Pelhamonline.com.
